My dear Milroy 
  Yours from Ind. 
  Just rec’d.  the 3  ____  as I 
have written you is in ______ and has 
been three times noted down.  The 
gunsmith I will talk with the 
Dept. about. 
I see you want Moody for 
 Col. of the 9th if you are Brig. 
Gen.  Well, I shall rejoice at his 
luck, but I shall at the same 
time begrudge many hours of time and 
miles of  walking to______ the Dept. 
______________to get his Captaincy. 
You are so anxious about it and he 
___ and myself besides that I went 
over and over again to the Dept neglecting  
the _______ and urging and insisting on it 
for him and finally succeeded.  All I 
shall regret about it is that I  
will lose that Captaincy to my Dist
