My Dear Robert
I received your
letter of Jan. 5 on Tuesday of this
week, and received the Presidents
Proclamation, which you proclaimed
to the people of Winchester. I rejoice that
our President had moral courage
enough to make such a proclam-
ation, and hope that he will not
be found wanting at any time
when the way is prepared for him
to act. I am thankful that your life
is still spared, and enjoy good
health, and hope the time will
soon come when we can have you
at home with us again. I have
been quite unwell for several
days, but feel better now, the
children are all well. Valeria is
with us yet she is a pretty girl and
