My Dear Robert
I see the Virginia
legislature has offered a reward
for your head, it made me shudder
when I read it. I also see that the
Cin. Enquirer calls you small
potatoes, but I suppose none of those
things move you, nor do you count
your life dear unto yourself when
compared with our countries cause,
but remember your life is very
precious to wife and little ones at
home. I therefore beg of you, to use
all due precaution to preserve your
life, so precious to us. When I read
to the children that a 100,000 dollar
reward was offered for Pa’s head
they were much concerned about it,
Ella wanted to know if they would
cut off your head, Val said he
