Dear Sir,
I have the honor to state that
my old friend and school mate Mr. Stone of
Lincoln County stated to me that a flag
was to be sent in a few days to Miss Maggie
March in charge of the female Academy near
Lynchburg. I am well acquainted with both
Mr. Stone and Miss March. I have some
business to transact for myself in that vicinity
and have an escort ready to go with me, and
as I preached the gospel to them once in that
country and they heeded me not, but have
since been converted by your more practical
system of reclaiming the _______. I do most
respectfully ask the privelige of bearing the
Old Stars and Stripes and presenting the
same to the school. It is Mr. Stones wish
that I should do so.
