                                            My Dear Friend 

                                                I have the 
Pleasure to take an opportunity of 
writing another short esptiles.  I went 
To Mr. Jenning yesterday.  He said  
that he saw my mare branded 
 W.D. .  He told me that Allen 
Smith is a very relable man. 
Allen Smith told him that he 
saw Edward M Bay branded W.D., 
He said he swapt for her with 
Mr. Woods and he sold her to 
Mr Jessie Letherwood 6 miles 
from Allen Smith house. 
Jessie Letherwood lives thirty three 
miles from here and twenty miles 
from Fayetteville.  Close to the Elk 
River rather Southwest from Fayetteville 
I think I had better to pay Jessie  
Letherwood fifty dollars for his 
mare.  With great Respect

stole Mr Jenning mare yesterday.
