                                                I have the honor to ack- 
knowledge the receipt of the letter of N. A. D. Dudley 
Brig Gen U S A. dated May 20th and endorsed by you 
May 22nd 1865 forwarded through Hd Qtrs Mid Tenn, 
with reference to the distribution of cod fish to the 
soldiers of your com’d and that the same is no part 
of Gov’t rationing.  The papers never referred to the 
Chf com. of Sub D. of C. who returns there with the 
following endorsement.
