General
I left your Hd. Qurs. The 10th inst. fully
intent upon riding nights and working days in
order to enable me to do what I was sent to do
and return in less time than you expected.
I now find that I did not fully und-
erstand the amt. of work I had before me.
Almost every one of the families to whom
the goods were sent reside from ten (10) to (25)
miles distance from any r. r. and all over
a hundred miles by rail from each other.
I left Martinsburg night of the 10th did
not reach Cleveland until the 12th on act
of detention on B. & O. R. R. Found that Dr. Pixley
lived twenty (20) miles out in the country, got
a team and succeeded in getting (as Lock says)
all the goods back to Cleveland and reshipped
to Martinsburg in care of Gov. Agt. I think
we got all at all courts I will give $500.00
for the lot reshipped from Dr. Pixley’s homes.
I arrived here today, Dr. Meeker’s
