Sir-
I have the honor to in-
form you that a communication has this
day been advanced to the Paymaster General
in reference to the matter of your letter
to him of the 18th ultimo, informing him
that in obeying orders to attend upon the
several military comt referred to, as a
witness, you were performing duties approp-
priate, and belonging to your position as an
officer, and were thinly estimated from the
operation of the limitations of six months fixed
by the statute, the full period of six
monthly not having elapsed, on any one
of the occasions on which you were thus
