I received yesterday
Your letter of Dec 31st containing
$200. Duval said that he
had received it several days
before but had neglected to
give it to me. It was certainly
very acceptable as I found it
quite inconvenient to keep up
our necessary supplies without
money. My Credit is good
what ever I got but I do not
like to go on Credit. I like to
keep square as I go along.
You ask me why I did not
let you know sooner that
I was in need of money?
Because I knew that you were
at considerable expense, and
