Dear General 

                    I have just learned that Mrs Dolly 
Battle has been arrested at Tullahoma.    If she 
has been guilty of any crime against the 
government, I shall not attempt to screen her. 
As she is a friend of mine, and a niece of very 
dear friends, I must request that you will deal 
kindly with her for my sake. 


	Leiut Sheets will deliver this.   He knows 
my views and wishes in regard to her.  I would 
that she could be sent to her parents at Chilicothe 
Ohio.          I leave all to your better judgement 
and information.
