Dear General,
Yesterday I received your
letter remailed from Washin and this morning
your note from LaPorte. Although it is
difficult to accomplish anything at Wash
without being present and pertinacious. I wrote
very pressingly to Gen Riply this morning. The head of the
Ordance Bureau, urging him to order 300
more rifles for your Regt. to correspond with
its increased numbers and told him you
had saved the others which had done such
good service. You had better write also
directed to Gen J.W. Riply Ordance
Bureau, what I fear is that he will
reply that all requisitions for arms now
much come through The Governor, as is the
general way. But I told him you were one of the
president’s regts remustered by his special orders.
No other Vol. Regt. is allowed to go up to
2.4 N and I had no idea it would be ____________.
Handwritten; 1 sheet, double folded, 3 sides of writing; white stationery with light blue lines
