I Robert H. Milroy formerly Colonel of
the (9th Ind. Vol. Inf. hereby Certify that
in September 1861 I (stricken: received) being then in
Command of said Regt. I received from
Edward Ingersoll M.S.K &P.M. Springfield
Armory 300 Rifle muskets and accouterments as
per duplicate invoices herewith enclosed, that
said muskets & accouterments were obtained by
me to furnish the compliment necessary to
arm my three months Regt. upon its being
recruited & enlarged for the three years service
That said arms were issued by my then
Quarter Master to the companies of my
three years Regt. upon them being recruited
to the maximum (stricken: and receipts taken from
the captain of said companies) that
Handwritten; 1 sheet, double folded, 3 sides of writing; white stationery with light blue lines
