My dear General:
I avail
myself of one moment
as the mail is just closing –
to inform you that Maj.
Reynolds has gone from
here. Last evening, it is
said under guard, to
Washington – leaving
Col. Pierce in command.
If he, the dirty whelp
attempts to “make friends”
with you , don’t speak to
him. For he will do it
only to save himself.
He has been abusing
you in every possible man-
ner, and has endeavored
by every possible means
