Dear Gen. 

             Your truly loyal friends at this place 
really sympathise with you because of the ruse 
practiced upon you by an imposter here on yesterday. 
We were not aware that you were in town until 
late last night, and immediately call’d  /// to see you 
but you were abscent; and we were compel’d to leave 
without having the pleasure of a interview with you 
and a shake of your truly patriotic hand. 


   on your return to this place on tomorrow, please call 
at the Valley Hotels where a plain old fashioned dinner 
will be in waiting for you, and where you will 
meet with some of the truly loyal men of this place 
who have not even the smell of Copper about them, 
and where we can sip a little of the Viands kept at 
the Valley Hotel by it’s most loyal proprietor.  Gen. 
you must not disappoint us, but come without fail 
and you will meet, and be with
