My Dear Robert, 
 
 
 
                   I received yours of  May 15th 
 and $800. on last Saturday evening 
and was glad to hear from you.  
 I found your pen and will enclose 
 it with two letters which I received  
this evening.  One is a dun  to pay  
the balance for that miserable rascal 
 you were so unfortunate as to endorse 
 for.  I received several evenings ago another  
dun of  73 dollars for the boarding of some 
 orderlies at Washington. I think it hard 
 that you are called upon to pay out so 
 much for persons who have never done you 
 any good as an equivalent.   Cicero got 
 a check today of  $314.89 to pay that interest. 
 I have saved   60 dollars for family expenses  
and put the balance on interest for 4 mon 
ths thus hoping you can in the meantime  
send me enough to make up the $1100 to 
 pay off the mortgage on our  home place. 
 We are all well.  Children in bed.  Our love to you
