Dear General, 

          I have just seen Gen McClellan. 


He promises to move your Regiment as soon as 
arrangements can be made & he can determine 
where to send you.  He thinks Ky., but possibly here. 
I told him you would prefer here, if there was to be 
fighting soon.  If you are sent to Ky., Gen Buell 
will Brigade you:  if here, Gen McClellan himself. 


As you know, no politician can influence a General 
as to disposition & movement of troops.  They will not allow that. 


    I write in haste; but will add that the 
Adjt. Genl., to whom Cameron referred your 
request for Brigade The & Cay, positively decides 
against it.  I have tried my best, to change 
his decision but in vain.  Shall keep on 
trying however:  but it don’t look hopeful. 


    Congratulating you on your prospect of leaving 
your  Sileria,      I am in great haste
