I received your letter
of July 15th last evening, and am
truly glad that you are relieved, and
that no charges could be preferd
against you, it is very trying to be
kept 10 days wreathing in a tyrant’s
grasp and only then stacking his hold
because he has not power to crush you
but never mind his time is coming
everyone that I hear speak of him say
that he aught to be removed.
I received a letter from brother Cap 2 days
ago in which he says that Halleck
will be fortunate if his head don’t roll
soon. I will send you his letter so that
you can see what he does says .
You have not acknowledged the receipt of
my letters for a long time so that I do not
