Dear General, 
 
 
 
	I embrace this occasion, 
while officially addrefsing you as the 
President of the Soldier’s Aid Society to 
add a few lines of my own, I pre- 
sume that you are finally well posted 
by private letters as to the gossip of 
of Jasper Co, yet I will give you what 
little home  news there is stirring. 
 
 
 
	Col. Moody has resigned the 
Command of the 9th Reg. I hear that 
he has been at home a week, but 
he has not yet  been in town. 
 
 
 
It is said that Capts. Coal and 
Healy, and Lieut. Rhoades, have 
also sent in their resignations- the 
former on account of ill health, and 
the two latter on account of the resig- 
nation of Col. Moody. Dave Snyder 
has resigned, and is at home not
