I have been waiting
somewhat impatiently to learn the
result of the investigation of the Winchester
affair. I presume ere this the matter is
decided and put to rest, and I hope justice
has been done you, notwithstanding
Hallecks plans to the contrary.
I received your letter written at Washington
Aug 16th and the Copies of Petitions sent
to the Presdt. I think those petitions ought
to have some weight with the President.
if he is disposed to do justice and is not
too much fetterd by Halleck.
We were visited in this region on Saturday
night with a severe frost which has made
our vines and corn look as if they were
cooked, the drouth and early frost will cut
short the corn crop in these parts.
The ladies of town presented a flag to the
“Milroy Guards” on last Saturday.

Bowling Green a week ago last Sabbath
