Rensselaer, Jasper Cou. Ind
Monday evening Jan 20th 1862
My Dear Robert,
I have looked anxiously
for a letter during the last week, so that I
could learn of your whereabouts, the last
letter I received from you, was the one
sent by Pharas.
Cicero received one last
week saying the 9th was ordered to
Ky. But I saw in the Journal the order
was Countermanded.
Our children are not
as well as they have been. Val was taken
down with the Measles on last Tuesday
had a spasm in the evening and has been
confined to bed ever since on Thursday they
were out pretty thick all over him, they have
now disappeared and he has been better
today.
Martin was not home for some
days after he was taken so that I doctored
him myself as well as I could. Walter
I think is taking them. He waked up several
nights ago crying, saying that he could hardly
breathe, and coughed very horse and croupish.
