I received yours of the 11th
on the 18th. I learn from the papers today
that the 9th have gone to Ky. And as nothing
is said about your being with them, I
presume you are yet at Huttonville.
I feel quite encouraged by the late success of
your arms. I think I see some bright rays
penetrating the deep gloom that has so
long enshrouded our beloved Country.
May these rays penetrate still deeper the gloom
until she comes up purefide, and “fair as the
moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as
an army with banners.”
When I returned
from prayer meeting last Wednesday evening to my
great surprise and exceeding joy I
found brother Dory here, and has been here
ever since, he is now in bed, he is so lonesome
that time hangs heavy on his hands, the children
are also in bed and Walter has been freating and
crying considerable since I laid him down
