                       I rec’d your letter of 
the 12th Ult. only two days ago, with 
your Ms of same date.  I am 
much pleased to hear that you are 
making such fine progress in learning 
to play on your guitar.  That instrument 
makes very sweet music when well 
played & I hope you will persevere 
with patience till you can read music 
perfectly & play any piece you can get. 
 
 
 
You must also cultivate your voice 
in singing with your guitar.  You must 
not get tired, but remember that practice 
long practice alone will make perfect. 
 
 
 
I desire that Val, Walter & Brucy each 
shall all learn to play upon some 
musical instrument or instruments as they 
grow up, for music is Heavenly and 
refines & elevates above vice.  I am 
pleased to hear that you are making such 
good progress at school.
