Dear General, 
 
 
 
	I received your dispatch this morning  
about the 9th being ordered  
to Romney, and you desire that I should  
have it changed to Louisville. I am  
suffering with a boil on my ancle, almost  
preventing locomotion; but I hobbled up  
again for the 8th time to the Head  
Qrs. I was replied that it was  
impossible-that Romney’s threatened –  
that it was “a military necessity”-  
that both you and I had been insisting  
on having them removed from the duty  
of wintering at a mountain top 
 
 
 
I then spoke about you and your being  
separated from them and they said they  
had a dispatch yesterday from Rozencranz’s Adjt.  
Genl. Hartsuff, stating that you had 
 telegraphed them that the enemy were in
