Yesterday. I assure you that I app-
reciate fully your feelings. And would be
glad to afford you this opportunity to lead
in person with this army. But as you know
it is composed of three parts. Each Comdg. Officer
having organised his Division Brigades to and
with these details I have maybe to do. I have
similar pressing applications from other Genl’s
Schure. Nnly. Curthuders. McCond & others,and all I
Can promise is to submit this answer to my
Army commanders & ask them to notify me
When they want either. To assign you
Or either of these Genls would force Thomas, or
McPherson to displace one or more of the
Active commanders and you know how
Wrong it would be to make such changes
