Just received your letter
of 26th ult from Franklin & and hasten
to reply. Gen Shenck is a great
favorite of Mr. Sincihis, & perhaps
all that Fremont has done has
been by the President’s orders, which
he must obey. I am surprised at
what you tell me about it. If
it were not that it is possible you
may find your views change, I could
write to him to days mail a
complaining letter. But it might
happen to be ill times might make
difficulty between you, & and I have stayed
my hand. If you want me to
write him such a letter & state the
censors I will do so at once.
