New Creek, Wes. Virga.

Will you pardon
me for troubling with a few lines
Sans Militare! My excuse is my
intense desire to see this infamous
rebellion crushed, which, with
the power in our hands to do so
has been so unaccountably delayed.
I thank God that you have
been called to the helm and I
feel that I am writing to one whose
heart is in the “right place”, and
who will overlook the little invasion
I thus make upon Military Etiquett.
I fear you will over-look, in
your plan the scattered forces in
Wes. Virg.; some fifteen Regts. under
Handwritten; 4 pages, double-folded on white stationery with light blue lines
