My Dear Robert
Another week has past
without writing to my dear Husband.
I waited for some time to get a letter
from you, so that I might know where to
direct my letters. I had become quite impatient
for a letter, when Alf arrived with your
noble horse Jasper, a letter, and the
money you mentioned, and a box of clothing.
We were all delighted to see Jasper and
welcome him home again, but how much
more delighted would we have been to have
welcomed his truley noble Master home.
Your absence makes a void which
cannot be filled untill you return again
in safty, and may our longing hearts not
long be disappointed. Jasper coming home wounded
took me altogether by surprise, I did not see
any account of his being wounded in the
papers, how very thankful I am that it was not
you my dear Robert, it is one of the many
