My Dear Robert
It is Thursday morning
4 ½ o’clock. I received your letter sent by Farris
by last Nights mail. Wm Rhoads starts back
this morning, and I thought I would send
you a few lines by him. We are sending with
him a box of things for the boys. I send you a
roll of butter and a pair of socks, and would
send you undershirts and drawers if I thought
you had not received our first box, in which
I sent you about 7 dollars worth of things.
Wm said he paid a dollar for his undershirts there, if
you can get them there at that price it is as
cheap as I can get them here, but I don’t
like the uncertainty of the thing. I will try
and get you some this morning.
I was invited to dine at Capt. Cranes on
the last day of the Old Year in Company
with Dr. Martin and Wife, we had a pleasant
time and the Capt requested me to rememb
-er him to you when I wrote. Last evening I was
Handwritten; 4 pages, double folded, pencil on white stationery with light blue lines
