Sabbath Evening April 20th 1862
My Dear Robert,
I received your
letter of Apr 4th on last tuesday
evening, and am ashamed to
acknowledge that I have been so
much engaged and exhausted,
performing in door and out door
work, for Ben cannot do much
in the yard and garden unless
I am with him to direct and
teach him, that I did not see
when I could write. In the
evening after the children
have gone to bed is my best time
for writing, but then I was
so tired that I would tumble
into bed to rest. After I got the
children washed and put to
bed last evening I thought I would
