My Dear Robert
I received your letter
of the 14th written near Woodville last
evening, and am exceedingly sorry that
I have caused you any uneasiness about
home, by my failing to write for a time,
if any thing serious had occurred I would
not have failed to have kept you posted
or if I had not been able myself to write
I would have got some one else to write.
So in the future you may depent on my
keeping you fulley posted if anything
serious occurs, and I hope my dear you
will not again have cause to become so
painfully anxious about home.
The only reason I can give you for not writing
as regularly as I had done, is that I learned
from the papers that you were in persuit
of Jackson and did not know where to
direct my letters, and thought that I
would wait untill I would get a letter
Handwritten; 4 pages, double folded, pencil on white stationery with light blue lines
