I have recd. two letters
from you since I last wrote you. The
last was written from Delphi. It is now
our 13 months since I parted from you &
the children. My time has been so intensely
occupied, and so filled up with exciting scenes,
that it seems but a few weeks, but I would
very, very much like to see you & our dear
children though I do not now see any

yesterday from point Pleasant. I passed
by this place on the R.R. with my Brig. on the
3rd inst. arrived at Point Pleasant on the 9th
took command of all the forces there about
12000 in number-sent out strong scouting
parties up the Kanawha & out into the interior
& made rapid preparations for advancing
up the Kanawha. But Maj. Gen Cox
