My Dear Robert
I received your
letter written from Grafton and
the lithographs enclosed. I also
received the paper containing a
letter form “Dux” written at
Buckhannon Oct 27 th. I read
the letter some time before I
got the paper sent by you.
and I feel proud of everything
that “Dux” says of you except one
thing, and that is “when you
speak of rebels you are often
decidedly more forcible than
pious”. My dear Robert the love
I have for you, and the regard
I have for your fair name, and
character, will not even admit
of the intimation that you use
profane language, for which
