Dear General,
I stop at the Treasury
Dept. on the road to the P.O,
to say that I saw the President
this morning, & got from him a
letter to Gen McClellan specially
asking him to move the 9th
Ind Regt & you to some place
where they would have an opportunity
of seeing the enemy & fighting him.
I wrote a strong letter to the General
also for the 3rd time, asking it as a
special favor to myself. Went to
Derhim, but he was not in. His
aid Col Cochran, promised to put
