My very Dear old friend I was truly glad to get your letter you say you are quite envalid & can not write a clerical hand if you were to care fore your writing with usual and plese where upon our exspection cerudetion as to health from our writing you must con clude that my chances for life are now growing beautifully slim
But joking aside Elam I am very glad to hear from you. It may be that you have grown gray and it may be that time has wrinkled your brow but I know that you are the same Elam whom I knew in Sunny youth and I know that your heart is still the same though the weight of years and the cause quiet cases of life have not failed to sadden you now and then
You speak of having lost loved ones - I believe no one feels the force of such losses keener then I do My nature is such that
