SUGGEST A NAME WIN TEN DOLLARS
Contest Closes May 25, 1937
VOLUME I MAY 1937
CASH PRIZE OFFERED FOR GIVING THIS PLANT SAFETY PAPER A NAME
A cash prize of Ten Dollars ($10.00) will be given to the person suggesting the most fitting title for this Safety Paper which is to be published once a month. Inasmuch as this is going to be your paper and the items that appear in it will be every day happenings throughout the plant, we feel that you should have the final say so in giving it a name.
1. The Title Contest is open to all employees of the Louisville Cement Co., with the exception of members of the Safety Committee.
2. Write your suggested Title on the blank space provided for in this issue, or on any other piece of paper, sign your name and deposit it in the box on your Bulletin Board.
3. You may suggest as many titles as you wish; however, write each suggestion on a separate slip of paper, signing your name to each.
4. This contest will be open from the date you receive this issue until May 25, the winner to be announced as soon after that date as the judges have made their selection.
Although this paper will deal mostly with items pertaining to safety, safety committees and accidents, we are also interested in adding a personal touch. To do this successfully we have to have the cooperation of every man in the mill. If at any time you have an interesting bit of news that will be suitable for our paper, relate it to some member of the staff and he in turn will take the proper steps to have it published. This news does not have to be in the line of Safety, just every day happenings such as "Jack Stretchum caught a forty pound catfish" or that "Pete Par made a hole in one."
With the paper working for every one and every one for the paper we are bound to have a masterpiece.
HOW ABOUT A NEW RECORD IN THIS PLANT
Safety and Lost Time Records do not necessarily begin on January 1. In fact, they can start anytime and continue as long as men are safety minded. By starting today we can have nine months to our credit and be well on our way to an all time record by 1938.
This is not a new idea, but an old thought with a fresh start and new determination. Let everyone of us cooperate so that in years to come, we can point with pride to our record and each of us say, "I had a part."
