              Falmouth Va Feb the 23 1863  Dear Mother I again Seat myself to rite you a few lines to let you know that i am well at this time and i hope that when those few lines comes to hand they may find you all well and enjoying the pleasures of life as well as the times will admit i  ave nothing of much interest to rite to you at this time but i will tell you all that i Know With regard to the army of the potomice we have had a very heavy snow and the men in Camp Just now are seing a very hard indeede it is worse than i have seen it since i have been in the service the snow is one foot deepe and it is very cold yesterday was Washingtons birth day and the old salutes were given as usual i want you  to send me somthin about my Rose if you  can think of any thing to send tell Set and Armilda to rite to me and let me hear from them it would give me much pleasure to hear from them and Jackson to rite also that i have not heurd from him for along time and i do not Know whether he has forgoten that he has one Brother that is serving his country yet but think not of my
