Transcription	April the 4 [Word Crossed Out] the 20 9 1864 Blandinsvilles Dear mother brothers and sisters I drop you a few lines to let you know how we are getting along and how our helth is we are all in common helth except louesa an she is not quite so well as she has bin she has avery bad looking leg some eight running sores on hir leg between the hip and nee and they rin a considderable amount of mater in the corse of the day I hope those few lines may find you all in good helth and in good spirits and if so it is more than we are at this time for we have a hard ro for stumps though maby things will turn around different in afew years and if not we will make the best we can of it I am stout enough for any kind of hard labor our buoy is getting so he can do some worke in the way of caring in stove wood he can carry one stick at a time if it aint to big now I tell you something about the prises of produse corn 70 cts per bu wheat from 85 to $1.00 per bu flour $3500 per hunderd bacon from 7 to 10 cts per lbs lard from 10 to 12 cts per lb and other eatibles high in proportion milkseous from $20 to $30 per head horses rainges from $75.00 to $150 00 owing to the quality and stock of all kinds is tolerable high hear at this time esecept those too leged copperheads and they pore demand though I esepect that thy would fetchall they are worth if you have any of them in your part of the world you can tell what they will fetch the union men still keeps in listing and filling up the oald ridgements now I commesed this leter a few days ago and since that I have received a leter from you and was happy to hear from you all and I am hear a lone my family is all in Keokuk iowa thy left hear last tuesday for a stay of one month to have louesa doctored and this trip will about cleen me out of property and money so then I can start new in the world you rote to me to come and spend the summer with you but it will be out of my power I would like to see you all very well but my litle girl could not travel from hear their even if I had the meens and that I have not this trip will cost me some wher neer the hundred and fifty dollars and that is pretty hard on me now mother I entend to comply wi with lousa request that is to send louesa G Nichols and H H Nichols their pictors to you an want you to have yours and molleys girl all so and Jacks eileten to if you all please I and send them to me am so pore that I could not send them to you all thou you can all get to see them No mo more at presant fair you well one and all P and M A Nichols Sararah Nichols
