Transcription	Camp Stevensburg Ari Feb 28 th 164 Dear Mother & Sister I seat myself this morning With Strange thoughts running through my mind to Write you a few lines to let you know How i am getting along at this time i am still in the Hospital and my Health is not much better and there is no telling when it will beo Oh that I could Hear from you so that i can think of something to Write Dear Sister if you Will Write to i With thank you very much as i have not Heard from you since 4 of Jan it would do me much good to hear from you i have Written 7 times to you and heard nothing in ans ner i receive a letter ever few Days from FairField To me and I think i ought to get one new am every Few months my how but if yore So not want to Write you made not do it so i must stop for this time Write Soon I Remain as ever your Brother & Son untill Death Loved Bye M M Nichols Show this letter to Jackson h Will you and ask him for me if He even Write an & if he can tell him to Write me one letter in Three years if he Pleases i want to hear from all of you i have nothing to do and my Legs Will not cary me much at this time and if i could get as much as one letter per Week from each one of you i could answer all of them and i could have someth ing to pass the time away more Pleasant than i do and i would like to have a Paper from home if it be convient to send mo one tho gtime is just Sliding away and then i may get home to see you all but We are a going to have some hard Fighting to do and that Before very long to and i may Be the one that Will fall and if i do i will be gone and i have but one consolation and that is there is am any as good men that have fall in Battle as i am and there has to be some one Killed thir any how i have Been sparnd so far very Food and i thank my Fact for it So i must Bring my Letter to a close by asking you to Write soon and let me heare from you as soon as it is Convienient and give me all of the news with re gurd to what is going on in Bloomington M M Nichols how i Few Lines to M J Snodgrass i think he must be very Busily engaged that He can never Write it maybe that i have Done Something to Wound his felings if i have i wish that he Would Write to me and inform what it is that i have Done and if i can take it back i Will do it With Pleasure tell Luc that i Would like to hear from him if it be Convient for him to write tell him that Sh his letters Would be read with much Pleasure John Nichols is now a prisner some Where and if you Know Where he is I Wish that you Would Write and let me know So no more M M Nichols Dear Mother i want to se you very much at this time if i were With you i think that i could Have my legs Cared and be able to give you some Comfort if it was in my Power to do so Which i think is in my Power or Would Be if i was at home. Oh Dear Mother Write to me and let me Know How Nehemiah is agetting along at this time if he is Following hi olds Habbits as the has here to fore and tell him for me that he Had better quit his Way a Living and Hive a Different life from this time on and Be Some Comfort to all Who Know him and then he can Thought Well of yet M M Nichols to his Mother Now I Few lines to my Sister Armilda Nichols i want to know if she has any sprurk at this time and if she has i want to know who is the man if you please But i Don't expect to Know any thing a bout it if you Know untill yet home and then I write fond out So Good Bye For This time H H Prediety[?]
