Bloomington, May 4th 1858, My Dear Brother, Having received a letter from Anderson a short time since, stating that he would very likely need some money in his contemplated trip, I now enclose you a check of three hundred dollars, for him. Had others met their engagements with me I would have been enabled to pay him all which was coming to him. I have succeeded in collection as well as could have been expected considering the times. Say to him, for me, that if he needs or should need the balance very much (before I send it him) by letting me know a while beforehand I will try and get it for him. I paid 1 1/4 per cent premium for the check.
