Santa Fe. N.M. May 10th/63 Dear Brother I returned to Santa Fe yesterday after an absence of nearly three weeks, and found here three letters from you, which would have been answered sooner had I been here to receive them, as it is you will have to take this as a reply to all. The reason you have not had the usual number of letters from me lately is because I have had to take two trips away from here this spring and have not written while gone but once I know I promised to do so, but while away found it inconvinent to write, so I delayed until my re-turn to this place. I had a letter from Mary while gone. Judge Watts brought it out and sent it to me at Albuquerque. The Judge looks very well, and tells me I will get tired of B- if I return in about three days, he thinks it dull there now, but I am Satisfied that B-will compare favorably with any town in New Mexico out side of Santa Fe, and it looks better than Santa Fe dose. This is about the only pleasant place to live, in the Terr, or at least I think so, and there are a number of others here of the same opinion. Mr Watts told me that Jobe B- was talking of coming out with goods, but you say he has give out come-int. I did not think he would come, and would not now if
