THE SMITHVILLE NEWS. Vol III. Smithville, Indiana, Friday Feb. 17, 1911. No. 23 LOCAL NEWS The Johnston Stone mill is still idle. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Burris spent Thursday in Bloomington. -TURNER'S 5c and 10c store for bargains. Nothing over 10c. South Side Square, Bloomington, Ind. Tuesday was our first March weather, warm, cloudy and windy. Mrs. Chas. H. Drake has been spending a few days with her parents. Add Southern and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Jeff East Saturday. [missing text] down, out of stone. Mrs. Lon Sylvester visited relatives in Bloomington this week. Mrs. Oscar Deckard who has been seriously ill is improving. A child of Wm. Miers at Sanders is sick. Dr. Jackson and wife are attending thee Stannard trial at Bloomington this week. Miss Leafy Duzan of Bloomington visited Mathew Butcher and family yesterday. Geo. Bennett, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Bennett, came in Tuesday night to visit his parents. Robert Wooden and his mother attended the Sam Wooden sale at Harrodsburg yesterday. FOR SALE--Good Shredded Fodder, delivered if desired. Seriously Ill Mrs. Lewis Harrell, daughter of Milton Mitchell, who lives north of Bloomington, on the Bloomington and Ellettsville pike, is in a critical condition at her name. She suffers with hemorage of the bowels and through still alive this morning, is not expected to live. Mrs. Harrell is well known here having been raised two miles west of this place. RUN AWAY Wm. Trisler is feeling that he has a lot to be thankful for. Wednesday night, Orville Pate had left his horse hitched to a cart in front of C.E. Deckard's store, when the accommodation came in it became frightened and started north on Main St., Mr. Trisler was standing in the way and because of the noise of the train he failed to hear the horse until almost upon him. He turned partly around and was struck on the right shoulder by one shaft and toppled over. Aside from a few bruises he was unhurt. The escape was narrow however if the shaft end had [missing text] would likely have been seriously if not fatally injured. Curtis Mitchell Sells. Curt Mitchell, who recently sold his telephone property at Oolitic, has now sold his farm at Fairfax and his other property interests at Oolitic and has bought a farm near Hartford City in the northern part of the state, the entire consideration of his transfer was $24,000, $10,000 for his stone building, $5,000 for three houses and lots, $9000 for his farm. He paid $9,500 for his farm at Hartford and intends to move on it in April. Mr. Mitchell had, until recently, been leading the strenous life in the telephone business with its ups and downs, but is landing on his feet very nicely in this late deal. Dr. Kentling left here Monday night to join his brother-in-law at Springfield Mo., and from there they will go to Los Angeles, Cal., to attend the bedside of the Dr's. brother, who is seriously ill.
