Riley Day Celebration and Fifth Opening Anniversary New Central Library Building Indianapolis Public Library October 7, 1922 8:30 O'clock A RILEY GREETING Riley Day again! Just the name starts the procession of his quaint, lovable characters moving through our minds. Just the name recalls Riley Days every year since 1917 when we have met together on October seventh with his memory for a talisman. Tonight we have a gathering of men and women of his own kind - writers and bookmen who belong as he did to Indiana. Some of them knew him well, all of them loved and admired him and are eager to honor him. Once more his name is a charm to draw his friends together. Indiana authors who are with us tonight include Wilbur D. Nesbit of Chicago, William Dudley Foulke of Richmond, Paul Haworth of West Newton, Max Ehrmann of Terre Haute, Evaleen Stein of LaFayette, Marcus Dickey of Nashville, Meredith Nicholson, Charles W. Moores, Louis Howland, Gertrude Shields, Grace Alexander, Hewitt Howland, Irving Williams, Kin Hubbard, Jacob Dunn and William Herschell of Indianapolis. Several others are expected. We welcome these honor guests in honor of this day.
