              THE DALE NEWS  VOL. I FRIDAY, May 20, 1938  NO. 19   Home Ec. Club Makes A Tour  The Carter Township Home Economic's Club met at the home of the president, Mrs. Geo. Linhardt on Tuesday afternoon for a short business meeting. Then they drove to Huntingburg, where they made a tour of the Uhl Pottery and the Huntingburg Green House. Each lady was given a beautiful rose bud at the Green House. The tour of the Pottery was very interesting and instructive, showing the different steps in making a piece of pottery from the wet clay to the finished product. The ladies journeyed on to the Ideal Hotel, where they were served a delicious dinner. There were twenty-six members and eight guests present.  The guests were: Mrs. Barrow, Mrs. Otto Heichelbech, Mrs. Taylor Wright, Mrs. Skelton, Mrs. Jarboe, Cathern Tuley, Faye Witte, Evelyn Mitchell and Mrs. Hobart Wedeking.  The young people of the United Brethern Church will enjoy a social Saturday evening. May 21 at the Church. All young people are invited.   A memorial service, under the auspices of the American Legion, Harmeyer Unit 343, will be conducted at the Dale cemetery, Decoration Day, Monday, May 30, at 9:30 a. m. Rev. James T. McClary will be the preacher in charge.  The 4-H baking club met Wednesday, May 11 at the home of their leader Mrs. E. H. Loehr. Record books were distributed and discussed. May 25 is the date for the next meeting.  Mrs. Jacob Koenig, Clementine, Josephine and William Koenig and Miss Dorothy Rabanacker of Louisville, Ky., were the dinner and afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Koenig Tuesday. MINISTER  Church School at 9:15. A. J. Wedeking, superintendent.  Morning Worship at 10:05.  subject "THE UPPER ROOM".   There will be an observance of the Lord's Supper in connection with the morning worship.  There will be no evening service this Sunday. The Epworth League will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30.  Choir rehearsal Friday evening at 7:30. Saturday evening May 21, Mr. Chas. Mellin of St. Louis will be at the Methodist Church and show pictures relative to the mission work in Africa. Mr. Malin is not a missionary but he is very interested in missions. He spent thirteen months in Africa. There will he no offering taken at this service. These pictures are free, as his contribution to the cause of Christ. Plan to see these pictures next Saturday evening at 7:30.  A successful business week begins with Church going Sunday. The windstorm that game over Spencer county Saturday did much damage to roofs, chimneys, trees and telephone and light wires. Dale had several chimneys blown down.   May 24 Is Date Set For R. R. Hearing  The hearing on a petition of the Southern Railway Company to discontinue passenger service between Evansville and Louisville, via Dale, will be heard before the public service commission at Evansville in the courthouse on Tuesday, May 24. Anyone and especially the business men of Dale, that are interested in keeping this train service through Dale, should attend this meeting and put in their complaint. This will handicap Dale considerably especially in mail service.  The Spier Spencer Chapter of the D. A. R. met today (Friday) at the home of Mrs. A. J. Wedeking. Mrs. Maud Forsythe of Grandview gave a report of the forty-seventh Congress of the National Society D. A. R. An election of officers was held,  A memorial service, sponsored by the American Legion and American Auxiliary, will conducted at the Holland Gymnasium, Sunday, May 29, at 7:30 p. m. Schnuck  The Sun Oil Company recorded 13 oil leases with Robert Heilers, Spencer County Recorder this week.  Clarence Elliott's new residence is nearing completion and he is hoping to move in within the next few weeks.  The Dale Printing Co. this week moved it's plant to the editor's garage building, one and one/half blocks from its former location.  The Odd Fellows Lodge will soon move to its new location over the post office.
