              THE DALE NEWS  VOL I  FRIDAY, FEBRURAY 4, 1938  NO. 4  INFANT OF MR. AND MRS. RALPH SCHROER DIES  The baby daughter, Margaret Ann, that came to gladden the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Schroer Monday morning, died Tuesday morning of a weak heart. Everything was done that was humanly possible, to save the little life, but God wanted the little flower to bloom in His Big Garden Above.   Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon with burial in the Dale Cemetery.  How brief the stay, as beautiful as fleeting, The time that baby came with us, to dwell; Just long enough to give a happy greeting, Just long enough to bid us all farewell!  Death travels down the thickly settled highway, At shining marks they say he loves to aim; How did he find, far down our lonely by-way, Our little one who died, Margaret Ann by name?   Emil Meyer of Mariah Hill was run ovnr by an automobile last Sunday night and was seriously injured on the head and face. Dr. Medcalf of Lamar was called who brought him to Ferdinand Mon. morning for an x-ray which revealed that the lower jaw was fractured in three different places. Dr. E. E. Metzger reduced the fractured asisted by Dr. Medcalf.  The Ferdinand News.  Dr. and Mrs. A D. Smith, supt. of the Indiana Conference of the United Brethren In Christ Church, took supper Wednesday evening with Rev. and Mrs. August Stork. He conducted Quarterly Conference at Union Chapel church that night.  Bertha Mae the small daughter of Mrs. Mary Nord, is improving after a weeks illness.   Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Stone visited their daughter, and family at Owensboro, Ky. Wednesday.  Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Brown spent Tuesday in Evansville.  Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Weller went to Indianapolis last Wednesday to attend the capping ceremony at the Methodist hospital, when their daughter, Miss La Vern, received her cap and white uniform. Sadie Medcalf and Jack Winkler, who are attending Hanover College, spent the week end with their respective parents, Mr. and Mrs. Admer Medcalf and Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Winkler and family. 0ne slightly used Poly Prim Washer will sell very cheap. See ED BILLART. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McCormick and family are spending the weekend with his parents at Edwardsport, Indiana. They will attend the funeral of an uncle, William McCormick, at Washington Saturday.    W. F. M. S. HAVE INTERESTING PROGRAM  Mesdames C. W. and A. J. Wedeking entertanied the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society Tuesday afternoon in the home of the former.  Mrs. Estelle Eberhart led the devotions and Mrs. Anna Weitkamp was program leader. Topic, "Moslem Life in Iran." (Persia) Poem, "Still I Wait" by Nell Clark.  Study, Book Review by Blanch Bochstahler. Duet, "Ready" by Misses Dena and Tillie Guth.  Demonstration, "The Seven-Point Star," protraying the seven virtues which lead to spiritual victory was given as follows:  Faith by Anna Hemmer. Prayer by Sarah Schroer.  Love by Grace Thompson.  Vision, by Myrtle Hildebrant.  Courage by Dora Michel.  Joy by Ella Kokomoor. Service by Ninna Johnson.  Miss Nell Clark made a large star in colors during the demonstration.  Other members present besides those taking part in the program were Mesdames Charlie Schaaf, William Schaaf, Frank Frey and Emily Leathco. A delicious repast was served by the hostesses.  John Schaeffer was arrested last Saturday near Mariah Hill for drunken and reckless driving by State Patrolman 0llie Prectel.  He was fined $30 and costs, totaling $65 and his driver's license suspended for 6 months.  Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Stork and son Louis of Evansville, spent Thursday morning with their son Rev. Augut Stork and family.  Relatives and friends have received announcement of the birth of a son William Rice to Dr. and Mrs. A. D. Schaaf at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. and Mrs. Schaaf live in Jamestown.  Vernon Elliott was home for the week end from Indiana University, Bloomington, visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Elliott and family.  A. A. Brown of Hickok, Kans. who has been visiting relatives and friends here, returned to his home Wednesday.
