              THE DALE NEWS  VOL I FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1908 NO. 5  Three Arts Club Has A Patriotic Program   The Three Arts Club was entertained on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. H. W. Wedeking with Miss Grace Thompson and Mrs. Elmer Karam as assistant hostessess.  Twenty members responded to roll call and the following program was enjoyed: "Let Us Have Peace", voice  Bael  Mrs. Hazel Wright and Mrs. Adah Loehr  "The Real Boston Tea Party", topic Miss Sadie Weedman "America For Me", voice   Van Dyke-Bael   Mrs. Violet Tischendorf  "Spring Comes" review Bessie S. Aldrich  "March Militaire", violin Schubert   Mrs. Mildred Martin  "Stars and Stripes Forever", piano  Sousa  Mrs. Tischendorf  Red, white and blue tapers and the ices and confections reflected the patriotic note.  Frank J. Seng Of Jasper Announces For State Senator  (Contributed)  In this week's issue appears the announcement of Frank J. Seng as a candidate for Joint State Senator for the district composed of Dudois, Perry and Spencer counties.  Mr. Seng was born in Dubois county. He has served as deputy county auditor, auditor and assessor, and is generally acknowledge as an authority on county government and taxation, as a result of this experience, as well as his service on the board of review. His experience in business and his service as bank liquidator further qualify him for the important position he seeks.  If nominated and elected to this office Mr. Seng pledges himself to make a fight for the recognition of the rights of the people of southern Indiana to a fair and equitable part of the gasoline tax money. He contends that this part of the state has never shared equally with the central and northern parts of the state in procuring funds for the improvement of public highways and that he will do his utmost to correct this condition. He pledges to use his official and business experience in getting the best kind of legislation for his constituency in the three pocket counties.  Mr. and Mrs. Caskel Medcalf and family of Mt. Carmel, Ill. visited the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Medcalf and also attended the Dale - Lynnville basket ball game Wednesday night.   LINCOLN SAYINGS  Truth is your truest friend,  I must stand with anybody that stands right. I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true.   Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today.  As I would not be a slave so I would not be a master.  The Bible is one of the best gifts God has given to man.   In law it is good policy never to plead what you need not.  The leading rule for the man in every calling is diligence.   Doing no more than the average is what keeps the average down.  The way for a young man to rise is to improve himself in every way he can.  Men should be good to women, for nature gave them the big end of the log to lift.  Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Otto Jr. and daughter Miss Grace of Harrison, Ohio, spent last week end with their son and brother Clarence Otto and family.  "Doc" and Chester Billart spent the weekend in Evansville.  Rev. and Mrs. James T. McClary and son Leon and Mrs. Tolbert Stone attended the revival Saturday evening at the Tennyson U. B. church where Rev. Pat McClary is pastor. Dandy attractive flashlights. C. W. WEDERING & CO.  Dale Aces Lose To Lynnville Lindies  Dale Golden Aces lost to Lynnville Wednesday evening by a score of 11 to 7. Dale remained in the lead for the first three quarters but Lynnville rallied in the fourth quarter to win. Lynnville's second team beat the Dale Duces in a preliminary game by a score of 11 to 10, in an overtime.  A Spencer County Corn School was held at Rockport in the courthouse on Wednesday, February 9 th. Dr. O. T. Gregory and M. O. Pence of the Agriculture extension department of Purdue University, conducted the school. Many talks and discussions were held. Ted Lubbehusen, a farmer, living near Dale, discussed production of hybrid seed.  TO DALE FRIENDS   I often think of my old birth home in Dale. I think of my childhood days when we were all home with Mother and Father. We loved to take our Sunday School song books in the evening and sing until bed time. My favorite song was "Sweet Hour Of Prayer". I ask my Christian friends in Dale to remember me in their prayers.  H. M. ADAMS of Kentucky  Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wetzel of Lewisport Ky, and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Frey of Lamar visited Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wedeking Saturday.  Mr. and Mrs. August Stork and family, and Mrs. Wm. Brown and son Talmadge spent Monday in Evansville, visiting the formers parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Stork and family.  Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Beebe, Virginia Beebe and Mildred Harlow of Huntingburg attended the Dale-Lynnville game Wednesday night.  Mrs. Bertha Fuller of Chrisney visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wedeking Wednesday.  Mr. and Mrs. Carl Garrison and Mr. and Mrs. Al Fisher of Evansville were guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Hildebrant Sunday.  Little Vivian Schnellenberger from Huntingburg is spending a few weeks with her great aunt Mr. and Mrs. Alais J. Koenig.  Ed Billart was in Evansville Wednesday on business.  Mr. Clarence H. Koenig spent the weekend at Evansville visiting relatives. He was accomponied home by Mr. Andrew Koenig and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schum and family.
