THE DALE NEWS V0L. 1 FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 1938 NO. 10 Dale Visited By An Alaskan Show Much attention was attracted Thursday morning to some trailers that stopped in Dale. The Eskimo Show, Inc., from Alaska paid Dale a visit for a short time. The trailers contained many animals, including many Eskimo dogs, two freak goats, burro and pony. On the top of the trailers were two snow sleds, one that had been used for carrying the mail six years in Alaska. This outfit left Alaska last September and is touring the United States. Much attention was attracted to the owner, who wore a very thick beard, costume of the men in Alaska. The dogs are very strong and swift and mind by the speaking of a word. The owner said that seven of the dogs pulled a three ton truck for some distance. Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Skelton attended the preacher's meeting of the Methodist Church at Evansville, Monday, March 14. From there they drove to Hazelton, where they spent Monday evening and Tuesday with their daughter, Mrs. Charles Fithian and family. M. L. Medcalf and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Smith visited in Evansville Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stone, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Wedeking and son Billy, Miss Mabel Wedeking were visitors in Evansville Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rhodes, Mrs. Oskins and Mrs. Bess Wagner visited relatives in Evansville Sunday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Omer Heilman Friday morning, a 10 pound boy. He received the name of Jean Alden. ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL NOTES (CONTRIBUTED) March 16, is the feast of the patron of St. Joseph's School Joseph was the one chosen from among all men to be the guardian of the Child Jesus during His earthly life. St. Joseph, dear to God then, is equally dear to Him now. St. Josephs children, therefore again dedicate themselves and their school to the foster-father of the Child of Nazareth with a loving confidence in his prayers and protection. St. Joseph is also addressed as the "Help of Christians". All, therefore, who go to Joseph will find him a loving father and faithful advocate. Pre-Easter Evangelistic services will begin at the Methodist Church, Sunday, April 3. The services will start each evening at 7:15 p. m. On Good Friday there will be a special service from 2 to 3 o'clock. Sunrise service on Easter Sunday morning at 6 a. m. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Kinchie of Evansville, Mrs. H. B. Hammond of Ft. Collins, Colo. spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Amos Weitkamp and family. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Woods and family, who have been living in Kansas, moved this week to Dale. They have taken up residence in with O. Woods. Congratulations Aces For Your Successes Dale is proud of you! Home Economics Club Met Wed. The Dale Home Economics Club met Wednesday March 16 at the home of Mrs. William Schaaf. Members answered to the roll call by naming something new I would like for my home. Mrs. C. M. Sprinkle gave a report of the business meeting held at Rockport. Vocal Solo by Mrs. Charles Bockstahler accompained by Miss Merry Jane Medcalf on the piano. Mrs. Hurst Livengood held an old-fashioned spelling bee, with Mrs. E. H. Loehr winning the prize Mrs. C. M. Sprinkle won the door prize. The Queen Esther Guild of the local Methodist church, surprised Mrs. W. A. Skelton at her home, Tuesday, March 15, in honor of her birthday, with a 6 o'clock chicken dinner. About every member of the guild was present. Pearless Maxey, left today (Friday) for a business trip to Louisville. From there he will go to St. Louis, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Brice will move the first of next week to Lincoln City. Ronald Whitten and family will move in the home now occupied by Brices. The stork visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Eble, Tuesday, March 15, and left them a 7 1/2 lb boy, who received the name of Robert Eugene. DALE HIGH SCHOOL HAPPENINGS (GEMMA ELLIOTT) An increase of nearly twenty dollars in the the sectional receipts for 1938 netted Dale $59.55. Regional ticket sale has total approximately one hundred thirty five seasons tickets. The proceeds from the regional will be divided among the four school on the basis of season tickets sold. There will be no special county 8th grade examination this spring It will be held during the reguarly scheduled semester examinations. On a percentage basis the classes of Dale High School rank in the following order according to daily attendance.
