THE DALE NEWS VOL. I FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 1938 NO. 11 DALE HIGH SCHOOL HAPPENINGS (GEMMA ELLIOTT) The regional tourney proceeds, based on the number of tickets sold, netted Dale $139. 04 on this basis: Meals $14.40 Transportation $30.96 1/4 of 50c of 5th balance $63.80 Pro rata share of season tickets $29.88 Amount of check $139.04 Operetta practice has been in full sway for the past few weeks. The mixed chorus assembled in the gymnasium Tuesday and Thursday of last week and Wednesday of this week. The principles of the chorus will be combined every night next week for the final rehearsals. The operetta will be presented this Friday night, March 25. Reserved tickets will be on sale at Robinson's Drug store Monday evening through Friday. For the first time in its history Dale High will have a football team, a six man affair. Because of this new athletic venture, a field will be needed. Seeking a place to have this much needed field the east side of the school grounds, was agreed upon as a very plausible place for the "Dale Bowl". This field however, is in dire need of tiling and leveling before spring practice begins. The basketball teams the past years have proved very succeestul, and have helped greatly in "putting Dale on the map". Let us hope that our football team will closely follow in the Golden Aces really commendable footsteps by aiding the "Livengooders" to uphold the name that the hardwood team has gained. Come one! Come all! to the Class Basketball tourney, sponsered each year by the Commerce Department under supervision of Mr Livengood. This year a feature attraction has been added for the final night of the intra-mural basketeer's battle. Former graduates, stars of girls' basketball teams of Dale High will meet the 1938 crop of senior lassies in a thrilling fun-speckled, hilarious game of "hardwood strife". Don't miss this major attraction of the season. Come and see the fairer sex show the blundering males how the "boys` rules" should be played. The final will be held Friday night, April 1. Coach Livengood attended the "Ebort At Sports" banquet, Thursday evening, held in Vendome Hotel at Evansville. Louis Wahl, who received an invitation to attend because he was a chosen member of the Southern Indiana All Star Team, could not accept because of illness.
