PROCLAMATION  We the undersigned town board of Dale, Indiana do hereby declare a holiday, Good Friday, April 15, from 1:30 p. m. to 3:30 p. m. and ask that all business men cooperate by closing their places of business during this time. Thiry of Dale and Earnest Weatherholt of Cannelton went to Terre Haute last Friday, to attend the State Convention of the Young Democrat Clubs of Indiana.  St. Joseph's Church  Next Sunday is Palm Sunday. On this day the Church blesses palms which are distributed to the faithful. These palms are taken to their homes and used to obtain the protection of God upon themselves and their dwellings. After the distribution of the palms all march in a procession after which follows the Mass.  All of this commemorates the first Palm Sunday when Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time before His Crucifixion. A large crowd came out to meet Him, greeted Him as their King and spread palm branches as a carpet for Him to pass over. On Holy Thursday the Church commemorates the institution of the holy sacrifice of the Mass and of the Holy Eucharist. The Holy Eucharist is the real presence of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ under the appearances of bread and wine. Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper. The Holy Bible says, "Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke, and gave it to His Disciples, saying: "Take ye and eat; this is My Body: In like manner taking the chalice with the wine in it, He blessed it and gave it to His Disciples, sayng: "Drink ye all of this; this is My Blood". Do this for a commemoration of Me". - St. Matt. XXVI; 1 Cor. XI, 23-25. With the words, "Do this for a commemoration of Me",  Jesus made the Apostles priests and gave to them the power to change bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ and to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as He had done at the Last Supper. The Bloody Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, the sacrifice of Himself at the Last Supper and the Holy Mass of today are one and the same.  The same power which Christ gave to the Apostles has passed through the centuries to the Bishops and priests down to the present time. There is a mingling of rejoicing and of mourning on Holy Thursday.  The Church is profoundly glad and grateful for the Holy Eucharist while at the same time she feels sad because Holy Thursday recalls the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and and the betrayal and arrest of Our Blessed Lord.  On Good Friday the Church commemorates the death of Jesus Christ, Who on this day was scourged, crowned with thorns and most cruelly crucified between two thieves, through which bitter and ignomineous passion and death He accomplished the redemption of  mankind.  Following the reading of the Passion on this day the priest prays for the entire world. The crucifix which was veiled two Sundays ago is unveiled and the "adoration of the cross" follows. This does not mean that the cross itself is adored but Jesus Christ, Who died thereon.  There is no real Mass said on the Good Friday, because the Church directs her attention exclusively to the bloody sacrifice of Calvary. The service is called the "Mass of the Pre-sanctified".   SCHEDULE FOR SERVICES DURING HOLY WEEK  Palm Sunday  Masses 7:30 end 10 am. Stations of the Cross and Benediction 2p. Holy Thursday  Mass 8 a. m. Service 7 p. m.  Good Friday  Service 8 a. m. Stations of the Cross and Serman 2 p. m.  Holy Saturday - Services 7 a. m. followed by Resurrection Mass   Easter Sunday - Masses 7:30 and 10 a. m.  Go To Church On Palm Sunday  METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH  REV W. A. SKELTON, MINISTER  PRE EASTER SERVICES Begun last Sunday morning. 115 in Church School and excellent attendance in both morning and evening services. Attendance during the week also very good. Palm Sunday Services this Sunday beginning with Church School at 9:15. Worship services at 10:05 with the pastor in charge. Evening services 7:15. Dr. W. T. Jones will preach. We are expecting a record attendance in all these services and hope you can attend. Rev. August Stork will speak on Monday evening and the pastor will continue to preach each evening the rest of the week.  Good Friday special services from 2 to 3 p. m. Children in the grade school will have a part in this program. The speaker will be Dr. Charles F. Martin, of Boonville, Ind., subject, "The Philosophy of Christianity."
