              THE DALE NEWS VOL. 1  FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 1938  NO. 1 DALE HAS NEW PRINTING OFFICE  This is the first edition of a new newspaper for Dale. The Dale News will be published each week on Friday and will be distributed free to every home.  August Stork, who has had about 15 years experience in printing, is managing and editing this paper.  Dale business people are making it possible to distribute this paper free by their advertisements. So we urge that you patronize them and keep the Dale News coming to your home.  To help make THE DALE NEWS a real newsy newspaper, we are asking the people of Dale to cooperate with us by bringing, sending or calling this office, phone No. 56, their news. Please let us have your news as early in the week possible. The will of John Hertz of Dale was filed Monday in the Spencer Circuit Court. He bequeathed all his property to his wife so long as she remains a widow. Otherwise the property will go to his nine children.  FOR SALE  A Butter-Walnut Antique Dresser. TODD, AND WIFE KILLED  Rev. and Mrs. Wm. H. Todd, well-known minister and wife to many of this community, were killed in Indianapolis Tuesday in an automobile-train crash. The Todds were only two blocks from their home when the accident occurred. Their car was struck by a north bound Pennsylvania train. Rev. Todd's body was hurled 50 feet to one side of the tracks and that of his wife was carried down the right of way.  Rev. Todd was superintendent of the White River Conference of the Church of United Brethren in Christ at the time of his death.   JOHN LUDWIG DIES  Funeral service for John Ludwig, 83, who died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lora Krusenklaus, near Holland, Tuesday was held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Lincoln City Church with burial in the Buffaloville cemetery, Rev. James T. McClary officiating.  Mr. Ludwig's wife died one year ago to the day of his death. Surviving, besides Mrs. Krusenklaus, are three more daughters, Mrs. Nannie Brooner and Mrs. Pearl Hoffman of Vallejo, Cal., and Mrs. Ella Harris of Newtonville, and a son, Pliny Ludwig of Newtonville.  MRS. LAWRENCE RICE DIES   Mrs. Lawrence Rice of Durant, Oklahoma, and formerly of here, died Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Rice was the daughter of Mrs. Betty Medcalf of Dale. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Larryette Rice of Durant, and Atris of Indianapolis; a stepson Arthur of Dale-  As you read these pages and enjoy its news, don't forget to call 56 each week and help us make it a newsier newspaper.
