THE DALE NEWS VOL. I FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 1938 NO. 16 Basketball Boys Entertained The Dale Basket Ball Boys were delightfully entertained with a supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Loehr Thursday evening by Mrs. Loehr and Mr. Livengood. After supper, games were played and all had a good time. Louis Wahl, the only senior player was presented with a scrapbook by Mrs. Livengood, containing all the games that he had played in during his four years on the team. Charles F. Werner For Congress Charles F. Werner, Candidate for the Republican nomination for Congress, has lived in the City of Evansville for thirty years. He graduated from High School, attended College, and then the Law School of the University of Michigan where he obtain his degree CHARLES P. WERNER [photograph] in 1907 Immediately thereafter, he entered upon the practice of his chosen profession in this city. He served Vanderburgb County as Deputy Prosecutor under George D. Heilman four years. Prior to that he represented the U. S. Department of Justice in the Tri-State area. One year after expiration of his services in the Prosecutor's office, he was appointed Referee in Bankruptcy by U. S. District Judge Robert C. Baltzel. This position he held until he resigned when he was asked to become the First Assistant to James M. Ogden, Attorney General of Indiana on January 1, 1929. He is known in the City of Evansville as a succesful business and civic leader, as well as a lawyer. He is married and has four sons: Forrest F Werner, Dan W. Werner, Richard J. CHARLE H. (TODD) YOUNG Paid Political Advertisement Literary Club Has Guest-Day The Dale Literary Club held annual guest-day meeting Tuesday, April 26 at the home of Mrs. E. C. Weller. After the supper, which came as a complete surprise to Mr. Schroer, a program was enjoyed along with games. After the program, ice cream was served by Mrs. Schroer. Those present were besides the honor guest and his estimable wife, Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Skelton, Mesdames Roy Stone, M. Pennington, Amos Weitkamp, Herb. Hemmer, John McCullough, Grace Kissel, John Schroer, Geo. Leathco, Fred Marquet, Harry Criswell, Olin Cooper, Jess Kokomoor, Jess Michel, L. L. Hildebrandt, C. L. Eskridge, Virgil Hardin, Ott Eberhardt, G. M. Willison, Misses Mabel Wedeking, Clara Schroer, Sarah Schroer, Grace Thompson, Nell Clark, Stella Richardson, Tillie Guth, Ruth Hardin, and Clara Hardin. Rev. W. F. Brown and family of Georgetown, Rev, I. M. Blackburn and family of Henderson, Ky. and Chester Brown and friend of Evansville attended a birthday surprise dinner in honor of Ruth McCormics last Saturday at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank T.
